The way the pads are made, they have a hard shell cap and a stretchy nylon tube your child slips their arm or leg in. There are velco straps to make a tight fit.

A new skater is normally nervous and wants to be padded up like the Michelin man. To go for a skate involves a 15 minute pad up routine. When they discover that falling off a skateboard is not the end of life as we know it, they will want less pads. First pad to be dropped is usually the elbows. Then the knees and wrist guards. We would recommend they always wear wrist guards because of the reflex of putting a hand down when falling. Wrist guards save a lot of sprains. Once they start skating, the backwards fall does not occur unless they are attempting stationary or twisting tricks. As skateboarding is usually a forward momentum sport it is the wrists and knees that cop the impact. Grazed knees are cool, sprained wrists are not.  

We rate these pads as excellent quality. They looked to be based on the popular 187 Killer Pads. High quality foam to minimise impacts, and tough plastic caps. 

If unused, the kit can be return and exchanged for a different size. Packet can be opened without damaging the packaging. The packaging is very clever, it can be used as a storage unit and hung in the garage or wardrobe. There are three compartments that are closed with velcro. The packaging has a nylon back and a secure hole at the top for hanging on a nail or hook.
